The Paper Canoe’s waterfront setting and gourmet cuisine provide an experience that captivates your eyes and amazes your taste buds. We serve fresh food prepared simply and with passion by our team of friends using ingredients from our own Outer Banks backyard. Each day our chef hand picks the fresh-caught fish for that evening’s dishes. In addition to seafood, the menu’s offerings feature dishes influenced by Southern styles as well as ethnic twists for unexpected pairings of flavors that showcase the talent in the kitchen. The result is dishes like our grilled shrimp with smoked Gouda grits or our skillet-seared scallops in a light vegetable curry sauce.
We are dedicated to your experience from the time you walk in our door. An ever-changing chalkboard features daily selections from handmade pasta, locally caught Outer Banks seafood and rustic wood oven specialties. The daily Chef’s Whim is whatever specialty dish — like a shrimp and scallop sausage with truffle Israeli couscous — the chef feels compelled to make and share that night. We consider presentation just as important as the quality of the dish itself and work to create art with each item served. Our 10 craft beers on draught and extensive reasonably priced wine list complement all of The Paper Canoe entrée offerings. Our food is best enjoyed in The Paper Canoe’s wood-walled restaurant, warmly lit with the natural light that flows in through the oversized windows that overlook the Currituck Sound.
